Wednesday 25-06-2025
On a night filled with celebration and farewell, Al-Police Club continued its strong performances in the Iraqi Premier League, after its well-deserved victory over Al-Hudood with a score of 3-1, in a match within the 37th round of the competition, allowing the green lyre to confidently continue its journey towards the end of the season, while Al-Hudood officially bid farewell to the top league after a difficult season that did not suffice for their survival.

Al-Police entered the match with the confidence of champions, and after securing the title for the fourth consecutive time, this did not affect their enthusiasm and discipline on the field, taking advantage of the grave defensive mistakes from Al-Hudood, who entered the match with slim hopes of survival.

The first goal came in the 35th minute, when Bassam Shakir exploited a faulty pass between Al-Hudood's defenders on the left side, breaking free with the ball and launching a rocket that found the top left corner, announcing the first goal of the match.

As the first half neared its end, specifically in the 45+5 minute, Al-Hudood repeated the same scenario, when a long ball from goalkeeper Hassan Ahmed reached the defensive areas, and the defender failed to clear it, allowing Mohammed Dawood to break free and easily score the second goal, confirming Al-Police's superiority with a two-goal lead at the end of the first half.

Al-Hudood did not give up and started the second half with a better performance, crowned with an early goal in the 48th minute by Saif Karim, who capitalized on a corner kick and headed it into the net, amidst protests from Al-Police players, but the referee confirmed that the ball had crossed the line.

However, Al-Police did not give their opponent a chance to return, continuing their possession and pressure, managing to score the decisive third goal in the 82nd minute, after a pass from Mahmoud Al-Mawas to Brazilian Lucas Santos, who confidently shot it into the net, ending all of Al-Hudood's hopes for a positive result.

With today's victory, Al-Police raised their tally to 86 points, achieving their ninth consecutive victory since their last loss to Al-Zawraa in round 29, in a season where they dominated all competition details.

As for Al-Hudood, their tally remained at 23 points in nineteenth place, officially relegating them to the first division, at the conclusion of a tough season where the team lacked stability, paying the price for repeated administrative and technical mistakes.
