Milan Targets Arsenal Defensive Duo
The Italian club AC Milan is looking to bolster its defensive ranks during the summer transfer window by signing the Arsenal duo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior.
According to "La Gazzetta dello Sport," Milan's management has prioritized reinforcing the backline this summer, following a disappointing season that ended with the team in eighth place in Serie A, in addition to losing the Coppa Italia final against Bologna.
The newspaper indicated that Milan officials held a meeting in London with their counterparts at Arsenal to discuss the possibility of signing Zinchenko and Kiwior, amid the London club's desire to sell some of its players to raise funds necessary to sign Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.
Zinchenko could be a potential replacement for Theo Hernandez, who is expected to move to Atletico Madrid, while Kiwior is viewed as a possible successor to defender Malick Thiaw, who is attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
Arsenal had signed Kiwior from Spezia in January 2023 for 23 million euros.
The move to strengthen the defense is part of a rebuilding plan promised by CEO Giorgio Furlani, following the disappointing 2024/2025 season, which began with the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as head coach of the Italian team.
