Officially: Arsenal Announces Gabriel Magalhães Contract Renewal
Arsenal has announced the renewal of defender Gabriel Magalhães' contract after signing a long-term deal. The Brazilian defender, who joined the team from Lille in September 2020, has participated in 210 matches across all competitions, scoring 20 goals.
Gabriel, 27 years old, began his career with Avaí in Brazil before moving to Europe, where he spent loan spells with Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb, winning the domestic double with the latter in the 2017/2018 season.
Since his debut with Arsenal and scoring in the opening match against Fulham in the 2020/2021 season, Gabriel has established himself as an attacking defensive player, leading the list of highest-scoring defenders in the Premier League since his arrival.
Gabriel earned a spot in the Professional Footballers' Association Team of the Season for 2023/2024 and played a significant role in winning the Community Shield after defeating Manchester City on penalties.
On the international stage, Gabriel was called up to the Brazil national team for the first time in November 2021 and has played in 14 matches, scoring his first goal in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela.
Gabriel expressed his happiness about renewing his contract, saying: "I am proud of the journey I have had with Arsenal, and I look forward to winning more titles with the club that I and my family love."
