Flick: This is My Opinion on Alonso, and It Was a Perfect End to the Season
Barcelona coach Hans Flick appeared in a press statement after the 3-0 victory over Bilbao in the 38th and final round of La Liga, at San Mamés stadium.
The coach said: "It was a perfect end to the season. We talked about our desire to finish the season well and play as we have throughout the season, and I am happy with what we saw today."
Regarding Inaki Peña's participation: "He was sad and dissatisfied with the situation and the decision he made earlier regarding the starting goalkeeper. He always gives his best in training, he is an excellent professional player, and we decided that he deserved to play today."
On the atmosphere at San Mamés: "The farewell to De Marcos was wonderful. Before and after him. It was very positive."
About Barcelona's interest in signing Espanyol's Juan Garcia: "You need to talk to Dela, our goalkeeper coach. He is a great goalkeeper, but he is not in my team. Currently, I have three great goalkeepers."
On Real Madrid announcing Xabi Alonso as the team's coach: "It's not surprising that Xabi Alonso has been announced as the coach of Real Madrid, I know his philosophy well. I met him in Leverkusen, and he was successful in Germany. I also believe that the players have developed a lot under his leadership, and I think that is due to the way he led the team - so I am very happy to see him in this position now."
On Ansu Fati's departure: "This is not my decision, but his decision."
He concluded: "How do we convince players to join Barcelona? We will see. If any team wants to compete with the top three teams, they must be at their best. I am very happy. When we have the ball, we need more control. Gavi had a great match, as did Pedri today."
