Deco, the sporting director of FC Barcelona, confirmed that German coach Hans Flick played a pivotal role in solidifying the team’s project, noting that the current season has established a strong foundation capable of competing in all tournaments.

Deco said: "The main goal over the past few years has been to rebuild the team and form a solid core capable of competing. Today we can say that Flick has given us the stability we were looking for by relying on a group of players who have significantly improved."

He explained: "We are looking for long-term stability with Flick. We are convinced that he is the right coach to lead the project, and we have renewed his contract until 2027. However, in Barcelona, you cannot predict everything; the club imposes constant pressure and requires quick results. So we will take it step by step, and if things go well, we will continue the journey together."

Deco talked about the details of the first meeting he had with the German coach, saying: "We traveled to London at a critical moment to make a decision. Flick surprised me with his deep knowledge of the team’s details and our needs; he was excellently informed and knows the young players we need. We had the same vision and he was convinced that the current lineup is strong and can be developed."

Deco commented on Barcelona's success this season, winning three titles: La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España, saying: "I never doubted for a moment that if we worked correctly, we would compete in all tournaments. The team has harmonized with Flick and created a special relationship with the fans, which is unique and does not happen often."

Deco pointed out that the current project of Barcelona actually started with the return of Joan Laporta as president of the club: "Since Laporta's arrival, we started talking about rebuilding, both for the first team and the academy. What we see this season is the culmination of years of work. We signed outstanding players like Koundé, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski, and we continued with others, betting on the quality we have within the club."

Deco concluded his statements by saying: "This season is the year to solidify the project. We have a team capable of competing for everything, and that is the most important thing for any big club like Barcelona."
