Flick: We will face a strong opponent, but our goal is to end the season with a big victory
Saturday 17-05-2025
Hans Flick, the head coach of FC Barcelona, spoke at a press conference held today, Saturday, ahead of the match against Villarreal tomorrow, Sunday, at the Montjuïc Stadium, as part of the 37th round of the Spanish league. The match will take place at 8 PM Cairo and Mecca time.

Flick said: "We will make some changes to the lineup, but the final decision will be made tomorrow. Yesterday was a day for celebration and rest after the championship; some players went out to celebrate, but those who can stay up can also play, and there are no excuses on this front."

He continued: "We are facing a strong opponent who has won their last four matches. They have a distinguished coach and influential players. We want to end the season at home with a new victory, and we have not lost any match in 2025, and we wish to maintain this record."

He added: "I love the passion of the fans here and the way they support the club. The city resembles my small town in Germany; everyone knows each other, and this atmosphere gives the team a strong boost."

He continued: "We are on the right track; we are working to improve the defense as a system that starts from the attack. There is a clear development in the defensive performance of Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, and we aspire for the players to give their best physically and technically next season."

Regarding young players, Flick said: "The idea of involving 11 players from the academy graduates is on the table; we have discussed it internally, but the final decision will depend on the team's condition tomorrow."

About Andreas Christensen, he said: "He is performing wonderfully and has developed a lot recently. I believe he has not yet reached his best level, but he is on the right track."

Regarding the celebration of the championship, he added: "It was a wonderful moment; I saw the passion of the fans in the streets, and it was touching. We want to repeat these moments in the coming years, and we will work hard to achieve that."

He concluded his statements by talking about loaned players, saying: "We have not discussed the situation of the loaned players yet, and that will be settled after the end of the season. As for returning to Camp Nou, that has not been discussed yet, but we have enough time during the vacation period."
