Judge Excludes Asensio from Charges
The judge presiding over the trial of Real Madrid defender Raúl Asensio, accused of distributing a sexual video featuring two girls, one of whom is a minor, issued a clarification regarding the indictment this Thursday, stating that the Real Madrid player has been excluded from the crime of distributing a sexual video.
The judge acknowledged that: "there is no evidence of his involvement in taking the photos, and thus he cannot be attributed, even temporarily, any involvement in the potential crime" of revealing secrets related to the recording and distribution of a sexual video.
The judge charged Asensio and three of his former teammates from the Real Madrid youth academy: Juan Rodríguez, Ferran Ruiz, and Andrés García, with the same three crimes: revealing secrets by recording videos without the victim's knowledge, revealing secrets by publishing or sharing intimate images without the consent of the two girls involved, and exploiting minors in pornographic materials, given that one of the girls is a minor.
However, the indictment against him still stands for revealing secrets by distributing the video to a third party and for possessing pornographic images of minors, knowing that a minor appeared in the images. All this relates to events that occurred on June 15, 2023, at a beach club in Amadores, in southern Gran Canaria, when the four football players, who were 20 and 21 years old at the time, met three girls with whom they spent part of the day.
According to the judge, despite the videos recorded in front of the victims being deleted, the fact is that the recordings were shared via instant messaging, not only among specific individuals but also in group broadcasts, and were stored on the mobile phones of the recipients.
As a result of these events, the judge affirms in his ruling that the minor suffers from "post-traumatic stress disorder associated with symptoms of anxiety and depression," which diminishes her "personal, social, and academic functional capacity," while the other young woman also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression.
