Consisao: We could have done more, and I'm not looking for excuses
The coach of AC Milan, Portuguese Sergio Consisao, expressed his sadness after the defeat against Bologna by a goal to nil in the 2025 Coppa Italia final, confirming that the team was not at its best in the second half, but he refused to blame the referee for the loss.
Consisao said: "We had a good first half and created several chances to score; scoring first in such matches makes a difference."
He continued: "In the second half, we were not at the required level; Bologna took advantage of a moment and succeeded in scoring, and after the goal, there was almost no real play."
He added: "There were some controversial situations, but I'm not looking for excuses; we were the ones who needed to do better."
He continued: "We won the Super Cup, reached the cup final, and now we have to finish the season with dignity; we have an important match against Roma in the league ahead of us."
Regarding his tactical choices, he said: "I made my decisions based on my vision before the match, and if I could turn back time, I would choose the same lineup; it's easy to judge after the result."
About the playing style and Bologna's pressure, he said: "We were planning to use the goalkeeper to play the ball out, but Bologna's pressure forced us to play long at times."
He concluded his statements by saying: "The match was physical and tough, and every ball was crucial; Bologna played their way and achieved what they wanted; I congratulate them on the title."
