Shobir Criticizes Mohamed Awad, Zamalek's Goalkeeper
Ahmad Shobir, the former Al Ahly star, attacked Mohamed Awad, the goalkeeper of Zamalek, after his behavior in the last match against Ceramica Cleopatra, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Shobir said in radio statements: "Zamalek is trying to sort out its affairs, and this is very important because you all know that every time you rise from a pit, you fall into a ditch. Allow me to send a message to goalkeeper Mohamed Awad as a former goalkeeper myself, and I know Awad very well from a long time ago."
He explained: "I want to tell Awad that Zamalek has appointed a new coach, Captain Ayman Al-Ramadi, and his opinion was that Mohamed Sobhi should play as a starter. So, Mohamed Awad was upset, and this is natural because he was the starting goalkeeper in the previous period, and any starting player who sits on the bench gets very upset. However, there are limits to this anger; as long as you are on the bench, you should be ready to participate at any time."
Shobir continued: "In the last match, Mohamed Awad got injured early, and Mohamed Sobhi came on. Now, Awad, you are not happy sitting on the bench, and you are not happy with your coach, Emad Al-Mandouh, and you turned your back on the coach while he was warming you up and you did not listen to the instructions. This is unacceptable, and it is not right to express my displeasure and anger in front of people like this."
