Klopp Among Real Madrid's Options to Replace Ancelotti
Tuesday 15-04-2025
The name of German coach Jürgen Klopp is increasingly being mentioned within the corridors of Real Madrid as the top choice to succeed Carlo Ancelotti, should the team fail to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League against Arsenal.

Despite Ancelotti's history of bouncing back from crises, the heavy defeat against Arsenal in London has put his future at stake, especially with the significant decline in team performance and the drop in defensive levels, amidst a lack of signings despite multiple injuries.

If the team exits the Champions League and finishes La Liga in second place, the Real Madrid management, led by Florentino Pérez, is likely to initiate a comprehensive overhaul of the project, starting from the coaching position.

Xabi Alonso was the leading candidate to succeed Ancelotti, but his recent decline in results with Bayer Leverkusen has opened the door for other options, most notably Jürgen Klopp, who recently concluded his tenure with Liverpool and is currently taking a break from coaching.

Klopp enjoys support within the Madrid administration and is viewed as a coach capable of rebuilding the team and managing star players like Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, especially given Ancelotti's failure thus far to find a successful combination between them.

Should Pérez decide to officially move towards Klopp, it would be a significant step reflecting Real Madrid's desire to regain control both domestically and in Europe, especially as the team needs substantial reinforcements and impactful signings next summer.
