During the halftime break, cameras captured a side conversation between Karim Benzema and his teammate Ferland Mendy in the tunnel leading to the locker room, where Benzema told Mendy: "Don't pass the ball to Vinicius, he's playing against us!".

Benzema discussed this incident in the documentary about Vinicius that was released by Netflix: "These things are normal in football. He is my little brother, so I can say such things to him.
