Official: Leipzig Announces the Dismissal of the Team's Head Coach
The German club Leipzig announced the dismissal of its coach Marco Rose after the team fell to sixth place in the Bundesliga, threatening its chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
The dismissal decision came today, Sunday, following a 1-0 loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach yesterday, and this change comes ahead of the anticipated match against Stuttgart in the semi-finals of the German Cup next Wednesday.
The club published a statement saying: "Marco Rose has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of the team, and his entire coaching staff has also departed, including Alexander Zickler, Marco Kurth, Frank Gedek, and first team president Frank Eihlig. The interim coach will be announced in due course.
Leipzig has qualified for the Champions League in the last six seasons, but the decline in its results this season prompted the management to act with seven rounds remaining in the league, in an attempt to save the team's chances of qualifying for the European tournament.
