Bayern Munich Threatens Canadian Federation Due to Davies Injury
Friday 28-03-2025
Jan Christian Dreesen, the CEO of Bayern Munich, announced that the club might take legal action against the Canadian Football Association after Alphonso Davies suffered a torn ACL during his national team's match against the United States.

Dreesen stated in his remarks: "We demand that the Canadian Football Association conduct a full investigation into the events, and we explicitly reserve our right to take legal action."

He added: "Sending an obviously injured player with a damaged knee on a 12-hour international trip without conducting a thorough medical examination is, in our opinion, gross negligence and a clear violation of due medical care."

He continued: "In general, we cannot understand the decision to involve Davies in an unimportant match, despite his muscle issues. We do not blame the player; he is the team captain and wants to take responsibility. However, since Canada has already qualified for the 2026 World Cup as a host, there should have been no risk to his health."

Dreesen explained: "Losing Alphonso Davies could significantly affect us. Even if we can compensate for him financially, it is a painful blow from a sporting perspective."

He concluded his remarks: "This incident once again highlights the dangers of the international break in March, especially in the late stages of the season, where Bayern Munich has been particularly affected by the injuries to Davies and Upamecano."
