Al-Qamati: We Did Not Respond to Al-Ahly Regarding the Hearing Session
Sherif Al-Qamati, head of the Clubs Committee at the Olympic Committee, emphasized that Al-Ahly club confirmed that it did not request foreign referees for the summit match against Zamalek.
Al-Qamati stated in his remarks: "Al-Ahly submitted complaints in two phases and requested that there be coordination between the association and the Football Federation to avoid wasting the rights of clubs. The second complaint confirmed that it was harmed by the association's decision and that it did not withdraw from the summit match."
He added: "We requested a response from the Football Federation and the Clubs Association. The association confirmed the validity of its position and that Al-Ahly did not request foreign referees, and that the association was the one that requested foreign referees, while the Football Federation announced the presence of an Egyptian refereeing crew."
He continued: "The association confirmed that it applied the regulations to Al-Ahly because it withdrew from the match, and the Football Federation confirmed that Al-Ahly did not request foreign referees. Al-Ahly did not state in its complaint that it requested foreign referees, but rather confirmed that the association was the one that requested them."
He added: "The committee discussed Al-Ahly's complaint in terms of regulations, not technically, and we did not discuss any details, but we looked into the responses from the association and the federation, and we did not respond to Al-Ahly regarding its request to hold a hearing session."
He concluded his remarks: "The regulations and evidence are clear, which is why the decision was swift, and there was no communication with any party to influence our decision."
