Zamalek: The Super Match Will Not Be Replayed
Ahmed Salem, the official spokesperson for Zamalek Club, confirmed that the Super Match against Al Ahly will not be replayed because there is nothing in the regulations that stipulates that.
Al Ahly had withdrawn from the match against Zamalek in the first round of the decisive phase of the Premier League on Tuesday, insisting on postponing the match and bringing in foreign referees to officiate the game.
Salem said on the "Al-Bareemo" program on "Ten" channel: "Zamalek's position has been firm from the beginning, and we adhered to the match date as set by the Football Association and the Clubs Association. The refereeing crew was also present on time, thus the match ended in favor of Zamalek, and the regulations must be applied."
He added: "It was necessary to provide foreign referees for the Super Match, and Zamalek did not request Egyptian referees, but due to the short time, we agreed."
He confirmed: "We had previously received promises that with the presence of a foreign expert, the level of refereeing would improve, and repeated mistakes would decrease, so we responded for the public good."
He continued: "We objected to the timing of the Modern Sport match in the Egypt Cup due to the pressure of matches and the Al Ahly game, but no one responded to us, and despite all that, we adhered to the decision of the Football Association and the Clubs Association."
He added: "The Super Match will not be replayed... There is nothing in the regulations that stipulates that."
He concluded: "Zamalek is committed to applying the regulations completely, and the team won the match, and our position is firm."
