Conceição: We must work hard to overcome this crisis
Friday 07-03-2025
Portuguese coach Sergio Conceição, the head coach of AC Milan, held a press conference to talk about the upcoming match against Lecce in the next round of Serie A. This match comes during a difficult period for Milan after three consecutive defeats, amidst fan protests demanding improvement in performance and results.

Conceição said: "I am sorry for what is happening, but we must focus on working to get out of this crisis. Losing three consecutive matches is unusual for me, but the only solution is to continue working and believing that the results will improve. We need to achieve victories because winning changes everything."

He added: "I am not the type who accepts defeats, and I will never field a team that I do not see as the best to win. Everyone is working hard, and the management supports us, and Ibrahimović has been close to the team all week to support us."

He continued: "Everyone at Milan must have the desire and passion to defend this shirt. I monitor the players' performance in training and choose the lineup based on who gives me the best guarantees to achieve victory. Fortunately, everyone has shown a positive response, and now I have to choose the best elements for the Lecce match."

Regarding absences, he said: "Maignan and Pavlovich will not be available due to suspension, but we have ready alternatives, and Florenzi has returned to training, which is a positive thing for the team."

He added: "At Milan, every match is considered a final. We cannot think about the distant future; we must focus only on the next match. We are competing for two titles, and the Coppa Italia is a main goal for us."

In conclusion, the Portuguese coach commented on the performance level of striker Santiago Giménez, saying: "He is working hard, but we must remember that he is coming from a completely different league. Serie A is much tougher than the Dutch league, and he needs time to adapt to the atmosphere and the high level here."
