Pedri: The work is not finished yet, and Szczęsny was our savior

Barcelona midfielder Pedri spoke in a press statement after the 1-0 victory over Benfica in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at the Estádio da Luz.

He began his remarks by saying: "Szczęsny was instrumental today; we faced tough times in other games."

He added: "Today we knew how to defend and took advantage of the chances that came our way. When Kobarzi was sent off, we knew exactly what we had to do. We had to remain united in defense, defend as one unit, and take advantage of the speed of Raphinha, the quality of Lamine, and Lewandowski's ability to handle them. Moreover, we managed to score the goal, so we are satisfied."

Regarding a foul in favor of De Jong before Kobarzi's red card, he said: "I didn't see the incident, but I believe it was a direct foul. However, if he didn't call it, we have to accept it. Now let's go back home with this result."

On Szczęsny's brilliance, he remarked: "The last time we played here, Szczęsny wasn't happy, but today he saved us a lot, especially in the early minutes; I'm glad to have him with us."

He concluded: "We leave satisfied, but half of the work remains."
