Issam El -Hadary, the former Egyptian team goalkeeper, was accused of some of the Egyptian league players of involvement in betting.

Al -Hadary said in statements on the "dmc" channel: "The subject of betting is not new to Egyptian football, but it has been present for a long time, but it has become more prevalent recently."

He added: "There is a player in Zamalek participating in betting, and I am sure of that for my personal responsibility, and there are players from Ismaili and Al -Ittihad also involved in the same matter."

Al -Hadary expressed his surprise at the behavior of some players, saying: "I do not know why these players resort to betting, although they are receiving huge decades, things have changed a lot from the past."

He concluded by saying: "This phenomenon is constantly increasing, and if it is not confronted firmly, it may affect the integrity of competition in the Egyptian league. Strict penalties must be imposed to protect the game."
