About the Team

Mozambique. The Mozambique national football team is the official representative of the Republic of Mozambique in international tournaments, and it is overseen by the Mozambique Football Federation (FMF), which was established in 1978 and joined FIFA in 1980 and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in the same year. The Mozambican team is considered one of the rising teams in Africa and is known by the nickname "the Blacks" (Os Mambas). It has participated in several editions of the Africa Cup of Nations and achieved some notable results in continental qualifiers, although it has not yet qualified for the World Cup finals. The team plays its matches at the National Stadium in Maputo and sometimes at other venues within the country, featuring professional players from the local league and some players in African and European leagues.
