About the Team

Sudan. The Sudan national football team is the official representative of the Republic of Sudan in international tournaments, and it is overseen by the Sudanese Football Association (SFA), which was established in 1946 and joined FIFA in 1948 and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in the same year. The Sudanese team is one of the oldest African teams, nicknamed the "Shooting Eagles," and achieved its most significant accomplishment by winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 1970. It has also participated in several editions of the continental tournament and World Cup qualifiers. The team plays its matches at the Khartoum National Stadium and sometimes at other venues within the country, featuring professional players from the local league and some players in African and Gulf leagues.
