Mbappe: We don't want to go home, and this is our problem
French national team star Kylian Mbappe appeared in a press conference to talk about tomorrow’s confrontation against Belgium in the quarter-finals of the European Championship “Euro 2024”.
Mbappe said: “ When I got hit in the nose [against Austria], I didn't know what was happening and when I looked at the goalkeeper and saw his face I knew something was happening when I got to the dressing room, I thought I was going home, but I'm happy to be here. I had a lot of appointments, and I couldn't sleep for two nights and it was difficult to sit on the bench against the Netherlands, and fortunately, I was able to play against Poland.”
He added: : “We had chances and we did not score. This is our problem with scoring, but the most important thing is creating chances. Of course, we have to score them as well. It was difficult for us in the group stage, but this is a new stage, which is sudden death, so we have to work hard and create.” Opportunities and we score goals as well.”
On France’s level: “We hope that the French will wake up tomorrow. I don’t think we have to make excuses for ourselves for not playing at a high level Groups, but we succeeded in qualifying and now we want to reach the quarter-finals. We have to handle things better. We will face a good team, and if we do not win, we will go home.”
He stressed: “No one wants to return to their home. We're not ready to go on vacation yet. We are ready, we know what we have signed, we know that it will be very difficult against Belgium, but we have the right team, the right players and the whole team is up to the challenge and we will show it on the pitch tomorrow.”
