Amorim: I was leaving at the end of the season, and I only wanted Manchester United

The new coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, admitted that he had received several offers in the past few months.

Amorim said: “At the beginning of the season I spoke with... The president and I told him, “No matter what happens, this is my last season at Sporting. The season started very well, and then Manchester United appeared and paid the release clause.”

He added: “I asked Manchester United if I could “Joining at the end of the season, that was what I wanted, but Manchester United said no, it was now or never, so I had to make a decision and said yes to them.”

He continued: “I received offers from many clubs in recent months... but the club I wanted was Manchester United.”

He concluded: “No Sporting fan wants me to stay until the end of the season.” More than me, but that wasn't possible."
