Mariska: Everyone is available except this player, and I will hug Van Nistelrooy
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca appeared in a press conference, to talk about Sunday’s confrontation against Chelsea, in the tenth round of the English Premier League.
The coach said: “All Players are available but Jadon [Sancho] will be out, he has been sick in recent days.”
He added: “Counterattacking, I don’t care if we need to play Slowly or quickly. Think about the Brighton game, we tried to attack quickly because there was space at the back. We can't play the same game against Nottingham Forest when they defend deep, it depends on the game.
He continued: “We have players in wide areas who can attack quickly, but I have said many times, the problem when you attack quickly is that they attack quickly, then it becomes like Newcastle, up and down. Then it will be better for them than for us.”
He stressed: “We score many goals in the second half. It happened when I was in Leicester. "In the first half, we touch, touch, touch - [the opposition] run, run, run, they can't keep this up for 90 minutes, so in the last half hour they start to pull back and that's the moment we create more chances and score goals." /p>
And he continued: “Romeo [Lavia] and Moises [Caicedo] give us physicality and strength in the midfield, but when we play with Enzo [Fernandez], it has to be Enzo, Moises and Romeo. When Enzo moves, we suffer in the middle physically. At this moment, Moses and Romeu give us that.”
He noted: “The lack of fitness does not mean that we cannot play with Joao [Felix] and Cole [Palmer] in the Attacking, soon we will see Joao [Felix] and Cole [Palmer] together on the wings, the game always requires [something] a little different.”
And about Enzo not being involved. As a starter in the last two matches: “I still trust Enzo, there is no reason in the world for me to lose confidence in him. The reason he did not participate in the English Premier League is because I made another decision but my confidence in Enzo is 100%.”
He continued: “I would like to say that we do not have a team A or B, there are great players but we do not have indispensable players. If Cole [Palmer] doesn't play, we play Joao [Felix]. If Nico [Jackson] doesn't play, we play Christo [Konko]. There is no player we cannot change.”
He added: “The reason we change players is because they are all good. You're looking for some different reasons for Enzo but he will definitely play in the future. This does not mean that Romeo [Lafia] and Moses [Caicedo] will always play. Once one of them falls, we will definitely change it.”
He continued: “We are very happy that Nico Jackson is helping us, not only in terms of numbers but in the way we want to play. The way he communicates with his teammates helps us in the playing process. When he is out of action, he gives us an extra player. When he attacks from the back, he is fast and can score goals. You saw the options he gives us against Newcastle when he is out of action.”
Regarding the appointment of Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim: “All the best to him. If officials make this decision, it is because they believe it is the right decision. All the best to him and Manchester United.”
On his former teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy, United’s interim coach: “I haven’t spoken to Ruud. I'm going to give him a big hug on Sunday before the game. He is a great guy, humble and very professional. I shared the time with him when he was already finished but even then you could see how good he was.”
