Schmadteke defends himself and denies leaking Bayern Munich secrets or insulting his staff
Nils Schmatke, the late head of scouting at Bayern Munich, has broken his silence to respond to accusations and reports that emerged in recent days, which included internal criticisms of his behavior, along with allegations regarding the scouting department's responsibility for leaking information to the media.
Schmadteke wrote on his LinkedIn account: "In the field of scouting, you learn early on not to form an opinion about someone based on what you hear from others, but rather on what you see for yourself. I thought long and hard about whether I should comment on the reports that emerged over the past few days, as I usually let my work speak for itself, but this time it is not about my work, but about my character."
He added: "I want to clarify some matters unequivocally; I have never leaked any confidential information to the media, neither in Munich nor anywhere else. I have also never belittled anyone working under my responsibility. I am a demanding person, and I can be strict when it comes to quality, but I am not someone who lacks respect."
He continued: "There is another thing I want to emphasize, which is that anything that has been written has no connection to my departure from Bayern Munich. I do not discuss internal matters publicly, and I have not done so at any of my previous clubs, and this will not change now."
Schmadteke praised his experience with Bayern Munich, confirming that it was a positive and enriching experience on both a professional and personal level. He said: "Working at a club the size of Bayern Munich, which has extremely high standards and a fast pace, was an opportunity that helped me develop both professionally and personally. I am proud of what we built over the past two years."
He explained that the most significant achievements during his tenure included restructuring the scouting department, strengthening the links between the first team and the club's academy, as well as exploring new methods for discovering and communicating with players, emphasizing that these accomplishments were the result of collective effort.
He concluded his message by thanking his team for their commitment, ideas, and trust, emphasizing that what has been achieved would not have been possible without their efforts, before wishing Bayern Munich good luck and expressing his eagerness to take on a new challenge in his career.
