Arteta: We must always appreciate the value of winning away, and that's what we had to do
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke to the press following the victory over SK Slavia Prague in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League at Eden Arena.
Arteta said in statements to "TNT Sports": "We must always appreciate the value of winning away in the UEFA Champions League, as it is extremely difficult. The match had two completely different halves, and we could have scored three or four goals in the first half, but we did not take advantage of the opportunities available."
He added: "At the start of the second half, we dropped back, made numerous mistakes, and lost the ball easily, which forced us to suffer during periods of the match. There are many lessons we need to learn."
Arsenal's manager stated: "We should have scored more goals in the first half, and since we didn't, we had to make up for it in the second half."
Regarding making six changes to the lineup, Arteta explained: "We know very well the capabilities and quality our players have. I don't know if we missed something because of these changes, but I would make the same decision again."
He concluded his statements by emphasizing his appreciation for what the team has achieved, saying: "I appreciate what the players have accomplished so far, as we have played 11 matches away from home."
