Ferdinand laments the loss of Konsa deal from Manchester United to Arsenal

Rio Ferdinand, the former Manchester United defender, has shown great admiration for Ezri Konsa, the Arsenal defender, considering him one of the standout defenders, and lamenting his former club's failure to sign him during the last summer transfer window.

Rio Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel: "I think William Saliba is a player who should find a place in the lineup, he is an exceptional player. I told my son yesterday: watch Ezri Konsa, because everything he does is characterized by efficiency."

He added: "I wouldn't be surprised if Konsa returns to the right-back position as soon as Saliba is back; he is a top-class player and one of the other players I thought Manchester United should have signed."

Rio Ferdinand praised Ezri Konsa's quick adaptation to Arsenal, confirming that he has delivered great performances and provided manager Mikel Arteta with difficult choices when the squad is complete. Konsa successfully compensated for the absence of Saliba and contributed to keeping a clean sheet during the victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

The report indicated that Manchester United are suffering from defensive problems, having completed the summer transfer window by strengthening their midfield for £155 million, without making any defensive reinforcements, at a time when the team is in 17th place. The club had planned to address the defensive situation during the summer of 2027, but they may have to act sooner due to their struggles at the back.
