Andoni Iraola, the manager of Liverpool, expressed his frustration after the 3-2 loss to Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Champions League, stating that conceding three goals from set pieces was the main reason for the defeat, despite his team having taken the lead twice during the match.

Iraola stated that his team did not handle set pieces as required, despite knowing it was one of their opponent's main strengths.

He added: "The main reason I see behind our loss in this match is conceding three goals from set pieces. We had been performing well in dealing with these situations during league matches, and that continued until today's match."

He continued: "We knew that set pieces were one of Fenerbahçe's strengths, we conceded a goal from a free kick, another from a corner, and then a goal from a throw-in at the end."

He explained: "These goals cost us a lot, because we took the lead twice after good periods of play and controlling the match, reaching the goal and scoring, but we conceded goals from situations that we should have defended better, for sure."

He added: "We feel frustrated because playing here is difficult, and it's hard to play a match in this stadium. For most of the game, we felt we could win, but that didn't happen in the end."

He continued: "In particular, the first and third goals were impactful; for the first goal, I don't think we organized the wall correctly, and for the last goal, Muriqi managed to win the ball in front of three defenders, which is something we need to defend better."
