Reporter: Imam Ashour suffers from fluctuating form

Hani Hathout has confirmed that Al Ahly player Imam Ashour is experiencing a fluctuation in form. He also discussed the player's situation regarding joining the Egypt national team, amid the ongoing debate surrounding Hossam Hassan's selections as the Pharaohs' head coach.

Hathtout said on the programme "Al Kalam Al Mazbout" that the player's inclusion in the national team does not represent a crisis with Al Ahly, and that every coach has the right to choose the players that fit their tactical vision.

He added that Imam Ashour has great technical abilities and could show a remarkable performance in the upcoming match for Al Ahly, potentially becoming the team's most important player. However, he is experiencing fluctuations in his form.

He added that the inconsistency in the player's performance represents a bigger problem than having an average player who delivers consistent performances, explaining that the fans and the coaching staff remain in a constant state of anticipation to see whether Imam will show his known level or not.

The media discussed the debate surrounding Imam Ashour's representation of the national team, hinting at the contradiction in concerns that his international success could embarrass him with his club Al Ahly. He condemned the idea of asking the player to hold back his performance with the "Pharaohs" just to avoid fan comparisons between his performances in both contexts.

He stated that the player is required to give his best in every match he participates in, whether with his club or his national team, emphasizing that a decline in his performance in some matches may be due to technical reasons or a lack of luck, and it is not logical for his brilliance with the national team to turn into a crisis.
