Simeone: Mistakes are part of football, and this is what we lacked

Diego Simeone, the manager of Atlético, spoke about his team's loss to Bayern Munich by two goals to nil in the fourth round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, explaining the reasons for his team's decline in performance after conceding the first goal.

Simeone said in statements after the match: "There is nothing I blame the team for, as even scoring the goal in the second half was a good performance, and the match was balanced between the two teams. We were defending well, but the first goal affected us, and we couldn't respond by creating important chances to equalize."

He added: "The second goal came as a result of a mistake on our part, and when you make mistakes against an opponent of this level, the other side is superior and does not spare you."

Regarding the difficulties faced by Atlético during the match, the Argentine coach explained: "We lacked the ability to win second balls, and we were not present enough on the opponent's pitch. We had good periods until the first goal, and it is unfortunate that we could not maintain our level after all the effort we put in."

Simeone addressed the mistake that led to the first goal, stating: "Mistakes are part of football, the game is based on mistakes, and it depends on us how we deal with them."

He concluded his remarks by addressing the upcoming match against FC Barcelona, stating: "We have five days ahead of us, and the league is one thing while the UEFA Champions League is another. We need to work hard when the time comes for our next match in the European competition, as we still have only four points."
