29 goals in 6 matches.. Al Ahly Tripoli announces itself strongly this season
Al Ahly Tripoli have made a strong statement in Libyan football with the start of the 2026-2027 season, achieving a series of impressive results both domestically and continentally, capped off by a resounding victory over Al Khams by eight goals to nil, confirming their ambitions to compete for titles this season.
The Libyan team achieved one of the biggest results in the history of the Libyan Premier League on Monday evening, thrashing Al Khams in the second round of the competition at the Tripoli International Stadium.
This result has sparked widespread reactions among Al Ahly Tripoli fans and Libyan football followers, especially as it comes as an extension of the strong start the team has made under the leadership of their coach Mohamed Amine Tougai, both in the Libyan Premier League and during their campaign in the Libyan Cup.
Despite significant movements in the Libyan transfer market, Al Ahly FC was not the highest spending club but managed to retain its key players while strengthening its squad with important signings, including Burundian international forward John Claude, Algerian defender Mohamed Amine Tougai, and Al-Mu'tasim Billah Al-Misrati.
The team has maintained its core players who contributed to winning the Libyan Cup last season, including Muaid Ellafi, Sanad Al-Warfali, and Hamdou El Houni. This has helped them enter the new season with a significant degree of stability and harmony.
The numbers reveal the exceptional start of Al Ahly FC, who have won their first six matches across various competitions, with four victories in the CAF Confederation Cup and two in the Libyan Premier League, scoring 29 goals at an average of nearly five goals per match.
Defensively, the team has conceded only one goal, which came during the match against Ethiopian side Welwalo in the second round of the continental competition, which ended with a victory of 4-1, after keeping a clean sheet in the other five matches.
In their African campaign, Al Ahly Tripoli achieved four consecutive victories, having overcome KMKM of Zanzibar with scores of 3-0 and 4-0, before defeating Wolwalo of Ethiopia with scores of 4-0 and 4-1, securing their spot in the group stage of the Libyan Cup.
This scoring tally and positive results bolster Al Ahly Tripoli's ambitions in the Libyan Premier League title race, alongside continuing their continental journey, after the team has shown great readiness since the early weeks of the season, making them one of the top contenders for both competitions.
