Ten Hag: Ronaldo has been finished for years, and look where Manchester United are now
Erik ten Hag, the former manager of Manchester United, has spoken about Cristiano Ronaldo, the current player for Al Nassr, considering that the Portuguese star has not been able to deliver the required level for years. He pointed out that the player's name and status should not be above the interests of the club or the national team.
Ten Hag said: "For the last 7 or 8 years, Ronaldo has not been able to deliver the required level; since his time at Juventus, it has been over for him. He is no longer able to push himself to give his best every day, and if you are not at your best, you will not have a chance."
He added: "No one is bigger than the club or the national team, not even Cristiano Ronaldo, not even Messi. In fact, this is one of the main features of Real Madrid; they always know when it is the right time to get rid of their players."
The Dutch coach discussed Lionel Messi's experience with Argentina, explaining: "What distinguishes Messi's experience with Argentina is that although everyone works for him, he has put in an enormous effort for the team in return."
In another context, Erik ten Hag defended his time at Manchester United, saying, "Before my arrival at Manchester United, the club had not won any trophies in the last 6 years. I have won two trophies with the team since my arrival, and I also achieved third place in the Premier League."
He concluded his statements by saying: "I believe I have done a great job, and I couldn't have done better. Look where they are now."
