Chelsea clarify stance on selling Estêvão despite Manchester United interest
Chelsea are holding on to their Brazilian winger Estêvão, despite Manchester United's interest in signing him and their readiness to make an offer worth £86 million.
TEAMtalk has reported that Manchester United are monitoring the situation of the 19-year-old player, but Spanish newspaper AS has indicated that a departure in January is currently not on the table, as Chelsea are looking to renew his contract.
Despite a reduction in appearances under Xabi Alonso, Estêvão put in a standout performance against Manchester United on Saturday, in a match that ended with Chelsea winning by two goals to nil, and saw two of his goals disallowed.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea are not considering selling the player in January, noting that there are no movements within the club to seek a solution for his departure.
Romano has clarified that Alonso sees the necessity for Estêvão to fully recover from his injury, emphasizing that his chance to participate will come soon. He stressed that the player is an exceptional talent who needs time to play and develop.
He added that the lack of available matches for Chelsea, following their absence from European competitions and exit from the League Cup, is impacting the player's chances of participation, and that the coming months will be crucial to ensure he feels happy at the club.
