Lisandro Martínez's departure from Manchester United seems more likely during the winter transfer window after he faced severe criticism from English media following his red card against Chelsea.

According to "Mundo Deportivo", Barcelona do not rule out signing a new defender in January due to the many absences in their backline, and they have Josko Gvardiol and Alessandro Bastoni among their options, despite the difficulty of signing them at the moment.

Lisandro Martínez's red card against Chelsea, following a foul on Wesley Fofana that resulted in a penalty converted by Cole Palmer for the winning goal, has sparked widespread criticism. The Guardian described him as the worst player in the Premier League this season, while The Athletic held him responsible for the points lost by the team in three matches.

The Telegraph criticized the performance of the Argentine defender, while Manchester Evening News described the foul that led to his red card and the penalty awarded as ridiculous.

The Spanish newspaper indicated that a January departure has become a strong possibility in England and the Netherlands, especially as his contract expires at the end of the current season.

Lisandro Martínez has participated in 10 matches with Manchester United this season, totaling 763 minutes, after joining the team from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for €67 million.
