Sergi Roberto opens his scoring account in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles Galaxy

Sergi Roberto has begun a new chapter in his football career in the United States, having opened his scoring account with Los Angeles Galaxy during a big win over Austin FC by four goals to one, in the Major League Soccer.

The Spanish midfielder moved to Major League Soccer during the last summer transfer window after his two-season stint with Como, starting a new adventure following an 18-year career with FC Barcelona that included various age categories of the Catalan team.

Roberto has joined Los Angeles Galaxy on a free transfer, with a contract running until June 2028 and an option to extend for an additional season. His new move also saw him reunite with former FC Barcelona teammate Riqui Puig.

The Spanish player delivered an impressive performance against Austin FC, contributing to his team's first goal in the 10th minute, after providing an assist to Harper Miller, whose play set the stage for João Klauss to open the scoring.

The standout moment for Roberto came in the 66th minute when he received a header from Marco Reus, following an attack initiated by João Klaus, to break free from the goalkeeper and successfully find the net, scoring the fourth goal for his team and completing a four-goal haul for Los Angeles Galaxy.

Thus, the 34-year-old player scored his first goal in Major League Soccer with his new team, continuing to adapt to his experience in American football and adding a new chapter to his career outside the European continent.
