Official: Los Angeles Galaxy Signs Sergi Roberto on Free Transfer

LA Galaxy has officially announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto, arriving on a free transfer with a contract that runs until June 30, 2028, with an option to extend for an additional season until 2029, following the player obtaining a P-1 visa.

Roberto, aged 34, is embarking on a new experience in Major League Soccer after spending two seasons with Como 1907 in Italy, thus concluding an 18-year chapter with Barcelona, the club where he crafted the majority of his professional career.

The player will occupy a designated international player spot on the Los Angeles Galaxy roster, having arrived at the American club after a career that saw him participate in over 400 matches with clubs and the Spanish national team, during which he won 25 titles with Barcelona.

Will Kuntz, the general manager of Los Angeles Galaxy, confirmed that signing Roberto is a significant addition to the team, praising the player's experience, leadership, and ability to play in multiple positions.

Kuntz stated that Roberto combines technical quality, tactical intelligence, and experience in winning titles, considering these traits to be rare. He emphasized that Roberto's personality, leadership, and versatility will be important factors for the team.
