Messi Effect Elevates Inter Miami to the Top of the Most Valuable Clubs in MLS
Thursday 12-02-2026
Inter Miami has become the highest-valued club in Major League Soccer (MLS) following a significant surge in its market value since the arrival of Argentine star Lionel Messi to the team. The club is experiencing its best period historically, both athletically and economically, especially after winning the MLS championship in 2025, which has strengthened its position among the league's clubs.

According to a report by Sportico, a website specializing in the economics of sports, the value of Inter Miami at the start of the 2026 season reached approximately $1.45 billion, surpassing Los Angeles FC, which ranked second with a value of about $1.4 billion. This advancement came after Inter Miami's value increased by 22% during 2025, compared to only a 9% increase for its direct competitor.

This increase is not only due to sporting successes, but the project to build a new stadium for the club has also contributed to enhancing its economic value, with its opening expected soon. Additionally, Los Angeles Galaxy, Atlanta United, and New York City FC were among the top five clubs in terms of market value, each surpassing the one billion dollar mark.

Reports indicate that the average value of Major League Soccer clubs has reached approximately $767 million, an increase of 5% from last year, clearly signaling the league's ongoing economic growth. This growth continues to be influenced by global stars, most notably Messi, who have contributed to enhancing the brand value of the league and its participating clubs.
