Simeone: Atlético is the place I dreamed of staying, and we will continue to commit to this

Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atlético Madrid, spoke about his team's 2-0 victory over Levante in La Liga, and he commented on matching Luis Aragonés' achievement, stating that this number would not have been possible without the great work the players have put in over the past years.

Speaking about his assessment of the match, Simeone said: "I am happy with the work the team put in. Levante started the first half well, and we knew they were a bold team, especially in the attacking phase, as they have fast players and push a large number of players into the penalty area, and that is exactly what they did."

He continued: "Oblak made an important save during the first ten minutes, and after that, we started to adapt, our performance improved, and we found the spaces from which we could attack. After the goal was disallowed, the team realized that we were capable of hurting them, and then the goal came."

He added: "In the second half, I think the team played a great match and was dominant, managing to score the second goal early on, which was a fantastic goal. After that, we had to defend against everything they tried to offer, as they resorted to sending in crosses, and it became difficult for us to launch counter-attacks against them. But I believe we achieved an important victory."

Regarding the second goal scored by Atlético Madrid, he explained: "I always feel happy when we score a goal, no matter the way, as the goal transcends any other situation."

He continued: "We succeeded in getting out of their pressure, and we knew they would press us from advanced areas. We worked on that during the week and trained on offensive transitions, in front of those who stand behind the fence all week to watch our training sessions, and the truth is that it worked perfectly."

Simeone addressed the level the team is performing at, stating: "I believe we are still very far from the end of the season, and we will continue to adhere to our motto of treating each match individually, as that gives us strength."

He confirmed: "We will continue to work with the humility that we always have, until we understand the things we do well, as well as the things we do not perform as required and that we need to improve."

Speaking about equalling Luis Aragonés' achievement, Atlético Madrid's manager said: "It is a gift from a large number of players who have followed a certain approach and done a wonderful job. I do not feel that this achievement belongs to me personally; rather, I see it as an achievement for everyone, and I feel very close to all the players who have helped me reach the position I am in."

He concluded his remarks by saying: "I thank God every day for continuing to be at Atlético Madrid, because it is the place I want to be, the place I have always dreamed of achieving everything we achieve here. We will give our all until the last day."
