De Zerbi criticises hasty comparisons with Luka Modrić

Roberto De Zerbi, the Italian manager of Tottenham, has criticized the way Matheus Fernandes is being evaluated, following recent comparisons that placed him alongside Croatian star Luka Modrić.

De Zerbi said: "You are very funny, do you know why? Because the world is moving very fast. Two weeks ago, Matheus Fernandes was an 80 million player, a disastrous signing and a disastrous player, and it was said that he is not good enough."

The Italian coach added: "You play one match well, and you become a star like Luka Modrić, and the next day you become a stupid player who can't play football."

De Zerbi stressed the importance of not rushing to make judgments on players, affirming that evaluating any player's level should depend on consistency, away from the fluctuations imposed by the results of a single match or a short period.
