Shouber continues his brilliance in penalties with fifth save

Mustafa Shobeir, the goalkeeper for Al Ahly FC and the Egypt national team, continued his impressive form in saving penalties, having denied a shot from Ali Fawzi, a player for Modern Sport, during the match between the two teams on Thursday evening, as part of the eighth round of the Egyptian League.

The save came in the closing minutes of the match, helping Al Ahly FC maintain their lead of one goal and securing three important points for the team. Schubert was awarded the Man of the Match for his performance.

Al Ahly FC's goalkeeper caught attention during his participation with Egypt in the FIFA World Cup 2026, saving two penalties against Iran and Argentina, denying Mehdi Taremi and Lionel Messi from scoring from the spot.

Shobir successfully stopped Taremi's shot during the match between Egypt and Iran in the group stage, before saving Messi's penalty in the match that brought the Egyptian national team against their Argentine counterparts in the Round of 16.

On the domestic and continental competition front, Al Ahly FC's goalkeeper previously saved a penalty taken by Zamalek's Hossam Abdel-Majid during the teams' encounter in the Egyptian League last May.

Shouber saved a penalty taken by Mohammed Rabii Harimat, a player for AS FAR Rabat, during the match between Al Ahly FC and the Moroccan team in the CAF Champions League in November 2025.

With his latest save against Modern Sport, Mohamed Sobhi has reached a total of five penalties saved in the mentioned five matches, consisting of three penalties while wearing the Al Ahly FC shirt and two with the Egypt national team.

This record enhances Shobair's presence in dealing with penalty kicks, following his saves in important matches at both local and continental levels, alongside his notable appearances in international matches.
