Hamdani settles on new attacking duo to lead Algeria's attack
Ibrahim Hamdani, the coach of the Algeria national team, is preparing to make changes to the attacking system of the 'Desert Warriors', having reportedly decided to rely on Bashir Beloumi and Anis Hadj Moussa together during the upcoming international break in an attempt to enhance offensive effectiveness and improve the team's performance.
This move comes after a start that raised many questions about the experience of Anis Hadj Moussa, who is 51 years old and took charge of the Algeria national team last September, succeeding the Bosnian Vladimir Petković, who was dismissed following a disappointing performance in the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Algeria's national team, under the guidance of their new coach Anis Hadj Moussa, has played three matches, achieving victory over Zambia with a score of 3-1, drawing with Burundi 2-2 in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification for 2027, before defeating Niger 2-1 in a Friendly. Despite securing two victories, these encounters revealed some weaknesses, particularly in the attacking department, amid criticisms regarding the coaching staff's ability to reach the ideal lineup.
According to the same sources, Hamdaoui intends to test the duo of Beloumi and Hadj Moussa during the upcoming November camp, which will include two matches against Togo in the third and fourth rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification, relying on Ibrahim Maaza, the Bayer 04 Leverkusen playmaker, to support the attacking duo and provide additional solutions in building attacks.
This approach is based on the remarkable levels that the three players have been showing with their European clubs since the start of the season. Bashir Beloumi has established himself as one of the standout players at Hull City, having scored three goals and provided two assists in eight official matches.
Beloumi has strengthened his presence with the Algeria national team by scoring two goals during the recent international break against Burundi and Niger, providing the coaching staff with a positive indication of his ability to contribute while wearing the national team's jersey.
Anis Hadj Moussa continues to deliver strong performances with Feyenoord Rotterdam, having scored six goals and provided one assist in ten matches across various competitions. This enhances the chances of relying on him alongside Bloumi in the attacking line.
Hamdani hopes that this attacking setup, supported by Ibrahim Mazza's capabilities, will provide the Algerian national team with more effectiveness and flexibility in the final third of the pitch during upcoming competitions, as the coaching staff seeks to overcome criticism and build a more stable lineup before continuing their journey in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification.
