Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football, has revealed that the federation is considering the possibility of reorganizing the Africa Cup of Nations, as it reviews the tournament's format for the coming years.

Motsipe confirmed that the idea of holding the tournament every two years is still under review, pointing out that the African Football Confederation is examining the available options before making any final decision regarding the future of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The President of the African Football Confederation has clarified that the review of the tournament system is part of broader discussions about the future of African football and the organization of its competitions. This comes after the Confederation previously announced its intention to hold the Africa Cup of Nations every four years, starting from the 2028 edition, along with the introduction of the African Nations League.

Motsipe has confirmed that Africa's ambition is to see one of its national teams crowned World Cup champions, emphasizing the need to continue developing African football and enhancing its ability to compete at the highest global levels.

During the African Football Confederation's strategy conference, Motsepe reaffirmed the federation's full support for Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA, in the upcoming FIFA elections, emphasizing the continued cooperation between the two organizations to develop the game and enhance the presence of African football on the international stage.

The CAF president discussed preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, expressing confidence in the tournament's success despite organizational challenges that the competition faces in each edition. He emphasized the importance of collaborative work to ensure an organization worthy of the status of African football.

Motsébi emphasized that developing national federations is a priority for the African Football Confederation, explaining that efforts are ongoing to increase the financial support provided to them, assist them in developing their own resources, as well as enhancing transparency and improving the level of refereeing and training African referees.

The CAF President concluded by emphasizing the importance of encouraging African investments in football, working to elevate the level of continental competitions and improve their global marketing appeal, which contributes to increasing their financial revenues and providing a more sustainable environment for the development of talents, clubs, and national teams across the continent.
