Michael Carrick, the manager of Manchester United, spoke in press statements following the 1-1 draw against Leeds United in the 7th round of the Premier League.

Michael Carrick stated in remarks to Sky Sports: "If there are any weaknesses, they will certainly show in a match like this. We talked about history and the rivalry and what this clash means to the fans, and it's important for the players to approach these matches fully aware of their value."

He added: "The players were ready, but the performance was not perfect. We had good periods, but the confidence is not at its highest levels, and that is noticeable. However, we showed well at certain moments, defended as a team, and gave everything we had on the pitch."

Manchester United's coach stated: "Leeds are a good team and they put you under pressure, and if you are not ready for that, your weaknesses will show. In such matches, you cannot hide, and we have seen the enthusiasm, strength, and challenges that reflect the importance of the encounter."

Regarding the importance of the bond between players, Carrick explained that the three days leading up to the match were among the best periods the team has experienced, noting that he sensed a clear desire among the players to give their best and work for the benefit of the group.

He continued about Paliba: "He has missed a lot of matches, and this week has been extremely busy for him; he played a match in the Champions League, followed by today's game, and he handled all of that incredibly well."

He added: "We didn't get the result we wanted, and we can't celebrate a great performance or an exceptional result, but there are positive things we can build on. We learned a lot from what happened in the middle of the week, especially the team's reaction after going behind against Atlético."

He concluded his statements by saying: "We know our current situation, and we understand where we stand and what we need to achieve. If we play the way we did today, we will be able to win a large number of football matches."
