Borussia Dortmund are struggling with a noticeable decline in their attacking performance, having failed to score in two consecutive matches, which raises concerns about the team's ability to continue competing at the top of the Bundesliga, despite their strong start to the season.

Borussia Dortmund have stumbled with two consecutive draws in the league, including a loss to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League, which has seen the team drift away from the level they showed at the start of the season. This marks the second time under coach Niko Kovač that they have failed to score in two consecutive matches.

Sporting director Oli Bock stated that the team's recent results can be explained, referring to the 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen, the loss in Norway, and then the draw against Union Berlin. He clarified that the pressure of matches and travel may have affected the players' physical readiness. However, the most significant issue, according to the report, lies in the team's lack of attacking effectiveness, as they have scored only 11 goals in six matches in the Bundesliga, a figure that does not match their ambitions.

Niko Kovač is searching for the best lineup behind the striker, as Maximilian Philipp, Ethan Nwaneri, Marcel Sabitzer, and Carney Chukwuemeka have not delivered the required solutions consistently. Borussia Dortmund also suffered another setback with the injury of Greek Konstantinos Karetsas against Union Berlin, as he sustained a severe ankle sprain during a defensive clash with Rani Khedira, and the final diagnosis of the injury has not yet been issued, while the player arrived in Dortmund using crutches.

Borussia Dortmund hope to regain their effectiveness quickly, despite a busy schedule ahead, with six matches awaiting them over the next three weeks. Defender Waldemar Anton confirmed that the team needs to be more precise in the final pass and make the right decisions in front of goal, as they face a tough match against Azerbaijani side Sabah, who have kept a clean sheet in six of their last eight matches.
