Kovač: We controlled the match but didn't create enough chances to win

Niko Kovač confirmed that Borussia Dortmund showed the required level of enthusiasm and fight during their match against 1.FC Union Berlin, but they lacked the attacking effectiveness needed to secure the win, which ended in a goalless draw in the Bundesliga.

Kovač said: "In terms of enthusiasm and intensity, the team delivered exactly what you need in this stadium and in front of this crowd. We were completely on par with our opponents, and that’s what you need to come away with a positive result from here."

He added: "What wasn't good from our side is that, despite our control of the match, we couldn't convert this control into goals, or create enough good chances to secure the win."

Borussia Dortmund's coach stated: "All top teams struggle against teams that sit back and defend in numbers, and 1.FC Union Berlin defended very well today. However, we did not create the clear chances that we managed to create in previous matches, which are the opportunities we need in every game to overcome our opponents, so we need to work on this aspect. Goals are important to win matches."
