Eiraola: We are currently in a sensitive phase, and we faced a tough match
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola spoke to the press after the victory over Brentford by a score of 2-1 in the match that brought the two teams together in the Premier League.
Iraola stated after the match in comments reported by the BBC, saying: "When you come here and see Brentford's results at home, you have to be ready for such tough encounters. I think the first half was quite balanced, and we had the clearest chance."
He added: "We had 45 minutes to come back in the score, and I think we played very well until we scored the leading goal at 2-1. After that, we started playing more cautiously, as if we thought we needed to protect the result."
Liverpool's coach said: "We had many opportunities, and even in the final minutes, we had some counter-attacks where we were three players against one, and we needed to finish them better. When you lead 2-1, every throw-in and every free kick becomes a source of danger."
Regarding injuries, Iraola said: "We are currently going through a sensitive phase concerning some players, as we have lost Szoboszlai and Jeremy Frimpong today. Alex has been extremely useful, as when you need a player to put the ball in the net, he does that."
He concluded his statements by saying: "We were talking about playing four matches in two days, and that is extremely exhausting. It is good that we have regained Isak, but we have lost Szoboszlai and Jeremy Frimpong. We now need to rest again, as we will have a very big match against Villarreal in about two days."
