Liverpool identify Aston Villa replacement for Mac Allister if he leaves

Liverpool are targeting a move for Johan Manzambi, Aston Villa midfielder, to replace Alexis Mac Allister should he leave in the summer of 2027, amid interest from Real Madrid in signing the Argentine player, according to TEAMtalk.

The same source, citing "4-4-2" and "The Sun", explained that Liverpool are planning to monitor Johan Manzambi throughout the season in preparation for a move to sign him next summer, after his performances impressed manager Andoni Iraola and his coaching staff.

The Swiss midfielder has joined Aston Villa from SC Freiburg in the summer of 2026 for £59.5 million including add-ons. He has scored two goals and provided three assists in five matches across all competitions this season, while his contract runs until 2031.

Liverpool's interest comes amid uncertainty regarding Mac Allister's future, who has expressed his sadness at not receiving an offer to renew his contract, while reports suggest that the club does not intend to offer him a new deal. Meanwhile, Real Madrid continues to monitor him in preparation for an attempt to sign him in the summer of 2027.
