Concern surrounds Romero's condition after requesting substitution during match

Argentinian defender Cristian 'Cuti' Romero has raised concerns within Atlético Madrid after requesting to be substituted during the match following a defensive challenge, in a precautionary move to avoid aggravating any potential injury, according to Spanish newspaper 'Marca'.

Romero is one of the key pillars in coach Diego Simeone's system, thanks to his defensive solidity and ability to excel in duels, alongside his contributions to building play from the back through his vertical passes and his role in organizing the defensive line.

The Argentine defender's influence extends beyond technical aspects to his leadership role within the team, as he is one of the elements that provides balance and confidence to the back line, even with goalkeeper Jan Oblak wearing the captain's armband.

Romero's potential absence is a concern for the coaching staff, given his importance in Simeone's lineup and his impact on the team's performance. They are awaiting clarification on the nature of his physical condition and whether his replacement is related to an injury that requires absence or is merely a precautionary measure.
