Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation, revealed that there is no rush to determine the fate of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, noting that the decision will depend on developments in the region.

The AFC President stated: "We are not in a hurry to make a decision regarding the AFC Asian Cup scheduled for January in Saudi Arabia," confirming that they could wait until the end of November before determining the final position.

He added: "The situation could change very quickly in the region, and it is about monitoring what will happen," referring to the fact that the federation is keeping an eye on developments before making any decision regarding the timing of the AFC Asian Cup.

Salman bin Ibrahim has explained that the option to postpone remains available if circumstances necessitate it, saying: "We can postpone the tournament for a year to 2028 if needed," while confirming that preparations are currently proceeding according to the established schedule.

The AFC Asian Cup 2027 is set to take place in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5, while the Asian Football Confederation continues to monitor developments, with a clearer picture expected by the end of November.
