Officially.. Saudi Federation settles the debate: Donis continues with the Green

The Saudi Football Federation issued an official statement today, Thursday, clarifying the ongoing speculation surrounding the future of Greek coach Georgios Donis, the head coach of the Saudi national team, following reports in recent hours about the possibility of his departure from leading the 'Green'.

The Saudi Football Federation, in its statement, confirmed that Donis will continue in his role with the national team, denying any decision regarding a change in the coaching staff. This comes in response to media speculation about the coach's future in the upcoming period.

In a statement, the federation said: "In reference to what has been circulated in the media regarding the head coach of the national team, Mr. Georgios Donis, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation would like to confirm that the coach will continue with the team, and there is no decision regarding a change in the coaching staff as has been reported."

The Saudi Football Federation added in its statement: "The Saudi Football Federation calls on all media outlets to ensure accuracy and to obtain information from its sources."

This statement comes after Donis led the Saudi national team to win the Arabian Gulf Cup "Gulf 27" in Jeddah, defeating the UAE 2-0 in the final, securing the title for the fourth time in their history.

The Saudi Football Federation had contracted Donis in April to lead the national team until July 2027, succeeding Frenchman Hervé Renard, before the Greek coach strengthened his position by winning the Arabian Gulf Cup, officially confirming the federation's continuation of its technical project with "the Green".
