Yasser Al-Qahtani, the former Saudi national team striker, revealed his opinion regarding the 2007 AFC Asian Cup final, emphasizing that the match would have witnessed harsh penalties had the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology been available back then, given what he described as the violent atmosphere that characterized the encounter.

Al-Qahtani, during his appearance on the program "Fi Al-Marma" with journalist Batal Al-Qaws on Wednesday, stated that the presence of video technology in his career would have changed certain situations, recalling the AFC Asian Cup final in 2007, saying: "It would have sent three players off in the AFC Asian Cup final; it was a violent final."

The final match, held in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, saw the Iraqi national team crowned champions of the AFC Asian Cup for the first time in their history, after defeating their Saudi counterparts with a goal scored by Younis Mahmoud, the captain of the Iraqi team at the time.

Al-Qahtani's comments came in the context of discussing moments in football that could have changed if the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology had been available in previous years, recalling memories of one of the most prominent matches in Asian football history.
